Circular Office Group recently delivered a workspace transformation for Corinthian Sports in London, marking an important milestone for the business and demonstrating what a truly circular office project can look like in practice.

Corinthian Sports operates in the sports hospitality sector, delivering premium experiences at some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events. As the team expanded, the business needed additional workstations, smarter storage solutions and flexible areas where employees could meet, collaborate and focus on individual work.

However, the challenge was not simply adding more desks.

The workspace needed to perform better without increasing the footprint, while ensuring the investment made sense for a company with fewer than five years remaining on their current lease.

Watch the entire transformation below:

A traditional office fit-out approach involving large capital investment in new furniture would have tied up budget in assets unlikely to be used long-term. Circular Office Group instead proposed a circular furniture subscription model, allowing the business to access high-quality workplace furniture without committing to long-term ownership.

Circular Office Group worked closely with the client to understand how the space was currently being used and where improvements could be made. Through careful workspace analysis we assessed desk sizes, circulation routes and storage requirements to determine how the office could perform more efficiently.

By rethinking the layout, we were able to increase the number of workstations while improving comfort and usability across the space.

A telescopic benching system from Mobili was introduced to create flexible desk dimensions that made better use of the available floor space. The desks were paired with refurbished Flo monitor arms from Colebrook Bosson Saunders, freeing up valuable desk space while allowing users to adjust their screens easily for better ergonomic positioning.

Acoustic desk screens in Blazar Light “hot pink” fabric were installed across the workstations, reflecting the client’s brand identity while also softening the overall workspace and improving acoustic comfort.

Storage was also reconsidered as part of the redesign. Larger pedestal units that previously restricted legroom were removed and replaced with slimline under desk drawers. This maintained the storage capacity employees required while improving comfort and leg room at the workstation.

To support focused work and private conversations, a refurbished Frovi acoustic booth was introduced to the space. The booth will provide a quiet environment for calls, virtual meetings and concentrated work, helping reduce background noise across the wider office.

A key objective throughout the project was to prioritise reuse wherever possible. Rather than defaulting to new furniture across the board, we carefully assessed which assets could be refurbished, redeployed or recovered. This approach reduced waste while significantly lowering the project’s embodied carbon.

Mobili's telescopic understructure expands and contracts, which will allow us to redeploy and adapt it for a new workspace/client.  It is meticulous details like this that ensure workspaces and products are circular.

Circular Office Group delivered the project as a complete turnkey service, covering workspace planning, furniture specification, project management, furniture supply and white-glove delivery and installation. We also managed the removal and responsible disposal of redundant furniture, ensuring usable assets were diverted from landfill and given a second life wherever possible.

By applying circular economy principles to the project, the environmental impact of the fit-out was significantly reduced.

Carbon Impact:
By applying circular economy principles to the office fit-out, the project delivered measurable environmental benefits.

  • Mobili Benching System: 3200 kgCO₂e
  • 41 x Desktronic Underdesk Storage: 205 kgCO₂e
  • Scope 3 Delivery Emissions: 150 kgCO₂e

Total: 3,555 kgCO₂e

The new desking system introduced into the space carries an embodied carbon footprint of approximately 3.2 tonnes of CO₂e, and underdesk storage of 205 kgCO₂e, and Scope 3 delivery emissions of 150 kgCO₂e, which have been offset as part of the project’s carbon accounting strategy.

Carbon Saving Through Reuse and Refurbishment, hence diverted from landfill:

  • 41 x Flo monitor arms: 530.95 kgCO₂e
  • Frovi booth: 250 kgCO₂e

Recovery and redirect:

  • 26 x Pedestals: 1,001 kgCO₂e
  • Old Desking: 1,500 kgCO₂e  (Recycled)

Total Carbon Saved: - 1,782 kgCO₂e

Net Impact:

A 50% reduction in emissions achieved through reuse, with a remaining impact offset via the Santander and Las Tapias Renewable Energy Project – a Gold Standard Certified Initiative. (Click on the link to find out more).

Projects like this demonstrate how circular thinking can transform the way office refurbishments are delivered. Too often, workplace furniture is purchased new, used for a short period and then disposed of when a lease ends. By prioritising refurbishment, reuse and flexible furniture models, organisations can significantly reduce waste while retaining value in their workplace assets.
